Genuinely twisty. Kandy to Nuwara Eliya = 3 hours of continuous switchbacks. Nuwara Eliya to Ella = similar. Not gentle curves - hairpin turns, elevation changes, occasional passing on curves. For carsick kids: (1) Book chauffeur car (smoother than bus, driver adjusts to comfort). (2) Front seat if kid is old enough (less motion sickness). (3) Dramamine or Kids' Bonine 30 min before departure. (4) Ginger candies. (5) Break every 45-60 min for fresh air. (6) Do the winding drives EARLY morning (kid fresh, less nauseous) not after big lunch. Realistic: even prepared, expect at least one 'stop the car' moment on the twisty stretches. Manageable but not fun. Alternative: train Kandy to Ella (6-7 hours but no winding car nausea - train motion is different).
^ train is the answer for winding legs. Way easier on carsick kids than car. Book 2nd class reserved so you have seats. Not for entire trip - drive most legs, but do Kandy-Ella by train.
