Kids want to walk alongside the parade with the crowd for a short stretch. Allowed, or should we stay planted on the curb for First Randoli.

Stay planted. Walking with the crowd beside a moving cortege is easy to misjudge and officers will stop it when the lane tightens. Let kids sway in place and count what passes instead.
