Standard tropical hotel pools often lack dedicated lifeguards. Practical: (1) Parent supervision essential — one adult always watching, no phones. (2) Life jackets for non-swimmers (bring or rent). (3) Pool depth check — deep ends often not marked clearly. (4) Sunset/dusk swimming cooler and less busy.

Kids under 3 in shallow water only. Kids 3-8 need arms-reach supervision. Emergency: private hospitals in every tourist zone. Learning: swim classes at some hotels (Cinnamon, Amaya) 1500-3000 LKR for 30 min lesson. Prioritize hotels with pools designed for family use.
