Riverston Peak (elevation 1,424m) in the northern Knuckles range features "Mini World’s End"—a sheer 300-meter vertical granite cliff dropping into the Thelgamuwa valley. The hike follows a paved maintenance road (2km each way) to the telecommunication transmission masts. The cliff edge has no guardrails and experiences severe gale-force wind shear (often exceeding 40 knots during the Southwest Monsoon). Hikers must stay at least 3 meters back from the unbolted grass edge and crouch low if sudden mountain wind gusts accelerate over the ridge.
