Worth a short stop, not an overnight. Highlights: (1) Ethagala rock (the 'elephant rock' — huge granite outcrop overlooking the town with a viewpoint climb), (2) Ridi Vihara silver monastery (10th century, silver ore ceiling, less visited than main triangle sites), (3) fresh produce markets. Combine with a Wilpattu leg or Anuradhapura arrival day.

Ridi Vihara is the hidden gem here — hire a local guide from the temple caretaker for the full lineage story of the silver ore discovery. Photography allowed outside, respectful inside. Small entry donation.
