We are not hiring a car. Procession is back according to the stream end. Are the last buses out of Kandy still running tonight, or did operators give up until morning.

Night buses keep running after return if you walk to stops outside the old cordon. Do not wait at a taped roadside flag.

Ask the hotel which stop is open tonight - local knowledge beats the generic timetable screenshot.

If you miss the last useful bus, sit tight. Random roadside touts after Perahera are not your friend.
