Can we catch a last mid-afternoon train into Kandy and still walk from Peradeniya in time for the 6:44 PM First Randoli start. Not asking about Monday morning trains out.

A mid-afternoon arrival at Peradeniya can still work if you leave the platform promptly and allow a solid walk or short tuk into town before barriers lock. Do not cut it to the minute — 6:44 PM is the start, not your arrival target.

If the train runs late, a van drop outside the ring beats forcing a ride into the temple crush.

Build margin. Missing the opening drums is fine; missing the whole evening because you arrived at start time is avoidable.
