Do not arrive in Mahiyanganaya after dark hunting a machine. Pull extra in a big town. Some ATMs eat cards and then sit there empty.

HNB/Commercial in the bigger stops worked for us. {place} itself was a maybe. We stopped treating cards like they would save us.

If you are tired, stay near the bus stand or town centre in Mahiyanganaya and skip the extra viewpoint. Pull cash in Colombo, Kandy, or Galle first. Cards are a maybe, not a plan.
