Ask at the morning desk with a smile and a reason; many Kandy hotels already expect parade-night late rooms if you say 6:53 PM.

If they cannot hold the room, a paid late hour until four is cheaper than changing hotels mid-day.

We asked before breakfast and they held the room until five once we said we were staying for Third Randoli; naming the 6:53 PM start helped more than a long story.
