The Disaster Management Centre (DMC) issued a Level 2 landslide warning for Nuwara Eliya and Badulla districts yesterday. While the main Colombo-Badulla train is currently running slowly, there are frequent delays because railway workers have to clear fallen trees and small mudslides off the tracks. Expect a 9-hour journey to take 12 hours.

Check the local news app Ada Derana. They post immediate updates if a road or train line is completely blocked.

I took the train to Ella this morning. It was delayed, but the views of the swollen waterfalls were absolutely incredible.
