Driver wants a dawn run Kandy to Sigiriya Sunday. After a festival weekend, are police roadblocks still up that early, or is dawn usually clear.

Dawn is usually clearer than evening cordons. Festival alternate-route plans exist for the season, but early Sunday toward Dambulla/Sigiriya is typically moving.

Ask the hotel desk at 5am what police told them overnight. Apps lag; desk gossip is fresher for a one-morning exit.

Build a thirty-minute buffer. One leftover diversion is enough to miss a Sigiriya ticket window if you cut it fine.
