Fast action needed. (1) Use Find My iPhone/Google Find Device from another phone immediately to track location. (2) If tuk-tuk was PickMe/Uber, contact the app — driver identified, usually returned within 24 hours (small tip 500-1000 LKR appreciated). (3) If street-hailed with no record: photo of tuk-tuk plate helps enormously — always snap plate before boarding.
Recovery rate for PickMe/Uber lost items is high (80%+). Street tuk-tuk recoveries much harder. Report to Tourist Police (1912) with plate photo — they can help contact via registration. Set up Find My Device BEFORE arriving in Sri Lanka — impossible to enable after phone is lost.
