Operating LiDAR or photogrammetry drones within the Sigiriya World Heritage buffer zone requires synchronized permits from the Ministry of Defence, Civil Aviation Authority, and Central Cultural Fund (CCF). Drones are restricted to an outer 1.5km geofence buffer around the external ramparts and must not overfly the core rock citadel or western boulder gardens. Maximum flight ceiling is strictly capped at 100 meters AGL. Flight plans must be logged with the Sigiriya Military Aviation Detachment at least 48 hours prior to launch to prevent scramble of counter-drone RF disruption guns.
