Rain last night. Path looks like a cow track. Toddler on a hip. Still climb, or the name is the trap.

Mud is ordinary after rain. Shoes with grip, hip carry for the steep bits, turn around if the last pitch is grease. It is a short hill, not a pilgrimage. Toddler on a hip is doable when dry; in mud it is your knees. Skip with pride if it looks like a slide.

Did it in shoes we accepted would be red. Toddler hated the last bit. Should have turned.
