Local SIM is fine for maps — why are WhatsApp calls still breaking up on cheap data?
Physical local SIM already sorted (skip the eSIM debate). Maps and chat work. Voice and video WhatsApp calls to home sound like a tunnel and drop every few minutes, especially late afternoon on the south coast. Is this just congestion, a need to switch to a quieter app or wifi calling, or do people buy a bigger data package for call clarity? Not asking which brand is best as gospel — what actually improves the call.

Chat and maps need little bandwidth; WhatsApp voice and video need a steady chunk and suffer when towers are busy in late afternoon tourist belts. Try wifi calling from a cafe or hotel on a known connection, move outdoors with clearer sky view of the tower, or schedule calls earlier. A bigger package helps only if the tower itself is not saturated. I will not crown a single operator as perfect. For important calls, wifi you have tested beats hoping cheap mobile data suddenly sounds crisp.
