We are at Trincomalee in leftover-rain humidity. Beach clothes. Stall has thin prints. Kid wants to go in. I do not want to make the doorway a fitting room. Monday 31 Aug. Ordinary bags. Last-bit after dark, pin the main road. Cannot tell if this is ordinary or a tired mistake. Locals, please contradict the group chat.

A proper wrap, not a see-through scarf. If the stall only has thin prints, skip or buy two layers. Shoulders and knees. Do not make the Trincomalee doorway a fitting room. Skip is polite. Inside is not the street. Camera bag at the shoe counter is your problem, not theirs. I will not invent a photography fee. Street is mixed. Be small.

We took the quieter fork at Trincomalee. Fine. No one clapped.

Closed shoes. Sandals on leftover wet laterite is a clinic.

Walked off the cones, then a tuk. PickMe from the kerb was a joke.

Pride refuses the soda on principle and then owns a tantrum in the sun.

We waited until eleven, walked the inside lane. Fine. Flip-flops were a mistake at eight.

Harbour morning, no whale. We drank tea. Pride waited for a guarantee.
