26 Aug, Mannar. a damp morning leftover on the lake loop. Friend with a camera wants the photo before breakfast. Ordinary bags, no suitcase theatre. I do not want a sprain.

Wait. Mannar stones stay slick until late morning after a proper wet night. Sandals on that lake loop is how you meet the clinic. Do the inner shade first. Nobody is closing Mannar. It is just wet.

We waited until eleven, walked slow. Fine. Flip-flops were a mistake at eight.

Kids: skip the lake loop until it dries. Pride hurries a sunrise photo and hops home on one foot.

Closed shoes and the inner path, not the spray edge.

If it is only damp, not a pond, walk. If it is a pond, tea first.

Ask two locals. The first Mannar number is a test.
