Mirissa harbour board blank at 6:40 — wait the skipper or walk away from the desk that is already selling a whale
1 Sep, two daypacks, no guarantee wanted. Desk has a laminated whale and a number that feels like a tour. Harbour board is still blank. Heat already sitting on the concrete.

Walk away. A blank board is a blank morning. I will not invent a whale and I will not invent a fee. If a skipper goes, the board fills. The laminated photo is a sales tool. Sit tea, look again at eight, or keep the money. No whale is promised on a Tuesday in September.
We sat, board stayed empty, we left. Fine. The desk was still selling at nine.
Hikkaduwa harbour was the same. Ordinary morning. Do not invent a closure either.
If you still want a boat, ask the harbour, not the cousin with the van parked on the sand.
