Mirissa whale desk already WhatsApping 5:30 launch for 1 Sep — harbour flags or a guarantee
We are still in Colombo at 1:20. Desk in Mirissa says 'calm, 5:30, see you'. I know August leftover swell can linger. I also know nobody can promise a whale. Do we even go south at dawn?

No whale is promised. Harbour morning is a harbour morning. If the skipper cancels, that is the adult outcome. I will not invent a marine colour for Mirissa at 1:20, and I will not invent a west/south-west all-clear either. Take the south train later if you want, walk the beach, treat a boat as a maybe. Desk enthusiasm is sales.
We went, sat, saw spray, maybe a whale, maybe not. Fine because we had not paid for a miracle.
If they still charge when the harbour is closed, argue with the harbour, not me.
