Preventive tip: check train schedules on seatreservation.railway.gov.lk app. Ella last train to Kandy is around 5pm; Kandy to Colombo around 6pm. Don't cut it fine — arrive 30 min early. Save PickMe app, plus 3-4 guesthouse phone numbers per destination as emergency backup.
