Wise (formerly TransferWise): works both directions but LKR out has some restrictions — check current status. Revolut: functional for card use in Sri Lanka, limited for transfers out. PayPal: receives in USD, personal transfers work; limited LKR support. Best for larger amounts: direct bank wire (SWIFT) at 20-50 USD fee.

Long-term travelers: consider opening a Sri Lankan bank account (Commercial Bank Passport account for tourists) — allows LKR salary receipt if working locally, easier local transfers. Requires passport, address proof, and ~30 min at branch.
