Hotel garden has bold monkeys and someone mentioned snakes in the leaf litter. What do locals actually tell guests — ignore, carry a stick, close the balcony — without turning the stay into a panic.

Do not feed monkeys and keep snacks inside. Close balcony doors when you leave the room; boldness follows easy food.

For snakes, use a torch on paths at night and wear shoes. Call staff rather than poking leaf piles yourself.

Most garden sightings end with the animal leaving. Panic shouting makes monkeys worse and helps nothing with snakes.
