Muthurajawela Wetland (near Negombo, north of Colombo) is Sri Lanka's largest coastal wetland, home to 194 plant species, 250+ bird species, water monitors, occasional crocodiles. Guided boat tours (30 min drive from Colombo) 2-3 hours through mangrove channels. Genuine wildlife 30 min from downtown.

Boat tour ~2000-3500 LKR per person. Sunrise (6-8am) best for birds. Combine with Negombo fish market visit for a half-day Colombo escape. Not far from airport — perfect layover trip or arrival-day activity if not too jet-lagged.
