Need reading glasses from a foreign prescription in Colombo — optical shop fill or ready-readers while I wait?

Prescription for reading glasses is a clear photo on my phone from home. Small print on menus is blurry and my backup pair cracked. Do Colombo optical shops routinely cut lenses from a foreign written prescription in a day or two, or should I buy ready-readers for the trip and sort a proper pair later?

Many Colombo optical shops can work from a clear written prescription or a sharp photo, but timing varies — ask whether they can cut reading lenses in a day or need longer, and get a written quote before you leave the frames. Ready-readers from a pharmacy or supermarket bridge the gap for maps and menus while you wait. I will not invent a standard lens price as gospel. Bring the prescription details, try frames, and keep a cheap +pair in the bag either way.

Bought +2.0 ready readers same afternoon for menus. Ordered a proper pair for pickup before the flight home.

Clear photo of the prescription plus a known chain optical. Had glasses in about a day.

Ready-readers today, optical shop quote tomorrow with the photo prescription. Perfect.
