Negombo tuk quoted 3500 without meter after midnight landing — PickMe or walk to the hotel gate?
Landed late, bags heavy, hotel is maybe 3 km from the beach strip. Driver outside Arrivals said meter broken and wanted 3500 LKR fixed. PickMe shows something much lower but the pickup pin is confusing in the dark. Do I trust the app and walk to the signed zone, or just pay the fixed quote and sleep?

Midnight CMB–Negombo is a classic overcharge window. If PickMe or the official airport taxi counter is available, use that — metered or in-app price beats a "broken meter" story. Negombo itself for a short beach-hotel hop is usually a fraction of 3500 if you are already in town; from the airport curb the fair range is closer to a short fixed transfer, not a tourist lottery. Walk to the signed app/taxi meeting point, do not follow the first person who grabs your trolley. Agree any street price before bags go in, and carry small notes.
Inside Arrivals, ignore suit-jacket touts. Outside, official counter or app pin. A broken-meter speech at midnight is a pricing tactic, not a mechanical diagnosis.
Found the PickMe pin, paid about half the shouted quote, hotel in 15 minutes. Thanks.
