Nelli achcharu (pickled Indian gooseberry / amla) is a Sri Lankan-Tamil pickle — small green sour fruits in spicy salty brine with chili. Intensely sour + salty + spicy hit. Traditional health snack — Vitamin C powerhouse.

Available at roadside vendors, market stalls, and specialty shops. 100-300 LKR per 100g portion. Try one at a time — very intense. Also nelli juice (sweetened) at some fresh juice stalls. Excellent for immunity and digestion, believed to promote longevity.
