Scheduled passenger trains cross the Nine Arch Viaduct between Ella and Demodara approximately six times daily. The most reliable daylight crossings are the blue train services around 9:15 AM (Podimenike / local commuter), 11:45 AM, 3:30 PM, and 5:30 PM (Udarata Menike). Delays of 20 to 45 minutes are common on the mountain broad gauge, so arrive 30 minutes early. Free public viewpoints include the trail descending from Tunnel No. 39 and the lower tea path directly below the viaduct arches.
Flying camera drones over the viaduct requires approval from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA); flying through tunnel mouths while passenger trains pass is strictly prohibited by railway security.
Cafes on the upper ridge charge nominal drink purchases for terrace seating that overlooks the entire curved masonry structure and tea valley.
