Nuwara Eliya inverter cuts the AC at 10pm after a power cut — normal or change rooms tomorrow?
Grid went out around 8. Inverter kept lights and a fan, then the AC died at 10 and the room turned clammy. Desk says this is normal hill-country evening load-shedding and better hotels do the same. We have two more nights. Tough it out with layers, ask for a room closer to the inverter bank, or walk-in somewhere that advertises full backup?

Evening cuts still happen in pockets of the hills; inverters are common but they are sized for lights, routers, and fans — not whole-night AC for every room. Ask what the backup actually covers before you blame the desk. A room nearer the inverter or with a strong fan plus blankets is the usual fix. Full-generator hotels exist and cost more; check that claim in person rather than trusting a booking blurb. Power schedules change — local news and the desk beat a Facebook rumor. If sleep matters more than the view, move once, do not suffer three clammy nights on principle.
Moved to a fan-priority room they offered. Still no AC overnight, but sleepable with the window crack and a fleece.
Same story in a Deniyaya eco place — fans yes, hair dryer fantasy no. Ask early what dies first when the grid drops.
Coast hotels brag about generators too. Always ask which sockets stay live after 10.
