Hill room, actually cold. Tomorrow we drop to Anuradhapura. Heat Bulletin 01 Caution on NC. Partner packed only linen. I packed a fleece. 1 Sep. Not trying to look like a trekking advert. Trying not to freeze at 5am and cook at 14:00.

Jumper for the hill night and the Horton-side dawn if you still go. Linen for Anuradhapura midday. One extra layer in a daypack is the whole philosophy. Caution in NC is shade and water, not a different country. Do not buy a tourist 'heat kit' at 1am. Fill bottles before the triangle, hat from any stall in the morning.

We did NE to Anuradhapura in one day. Fleece on the bus at 6, linen by Dambulla. Fine.

Pride wears the fleece into the dagoba and then faints with style.

Hill rain leftover can still happen at dawn. A light shell beats a soaked cotton shirt.

Pride bargains until the cool hour is gone. Then everyone is ugly.

A wrap that you can see through in sun is not a wrap.

Fort cobbles look romantic until someone slides.

Night tuks are legal. Night walks with hard cases are a story.
