October actually visitable or all rain? Getting conflicting info.

October is transitional and legitimately visitable, but strategic. Southwest coast (Mirissa, Galle) has decreasing rain, still occasional afternoon showers, 30-40% cheaper than peak. East coast (Trincomalee, Arugam Bay) is transitioning to northeast monsoon, wet by late October. Cultural triangle (Sigiriya, Anuradhapura) usually manageable. Hills (Ella, Kandy) variable but not unbearable. Best October strategy: focus south + cultural triangle, avoid east coast, keep 1-2 buffer days for weather. You can absolutely have a great trip. Not underwater - just requiring some flex.
^ this. Also: October is when Sri Lanka is at its most beautifully lush green. Post-monsoon growth is stunning. Photos in October > photos in dry Feb for landscape. Trade-off: some rainy afternoons. Worth it if you're not glued to beach.
