Overnight AC bus froze us with only a thin blanket — ask the conductor for another or tough it out?
Colombo to Jaffna overnight AC bus. The cabin is arctic, we only have the thin blanket they handed out, and my partner is shivering. Conductor looks busy. Do travelers usually ask for a second blanket or a warmer seat, or is everyone just expected to tough it out in layers? Not looking for an invented fee — just what actually works on these coaches.

Ask once, politely, for a second blanket or a seat farther from the overhead vent — many coaches keep a small stack and will move you if a warmer row is free. Layer what you have, cover the vent with your own scarf if it blows on your face, and keep valuables zipped. I will not invent a blanket surcharge as gospel. Shivering through seven hours is not a badge of honor; a calm ask is normal passenger behavior.
Fleece plus socks in my daypack now. Asked for a second blanket once — got it.
Asked to move off the direct vent. Conductor nodded. Temperature became human.
