Painted tuk rental says we need a 1949 IDP - is the airport sticker useless for three-wheelers
Booked a painted tuk from a big rental brand. Fine print now says AAC permit + IDP under the 1949 convention + home licence with B. I only have a 1968 Vienna IDP PDF. Airport DMT said three-wheelers are not on their sticker. Are we about to be illegal the whole week.

Tuk-tuk is a three-wheeler class. The CMB DMT tourist sticker is the motorbike/car line. For a tuk you want AAC recognition against a proper IDP (the 1949 Geneva booklet is the one Sri Lanka-facing agents keep asking for) plus your home licence. The company should have told you before you flew. If they can still lodge AAC from here, let them. Driving without it is the same story as the scooter - fine, seize, insurance.
Ours was emailed as a PDF before arrival, checked once at a checkpoint, fine. Left side of the road, no expressway in a tuk, no hero overtaking on the A2 in the rain.
