Partner wants an unmarked cove swim with no lifeguard — join for the photo or insist on a flagged beach?

South coast afternoon. Partner found a quiet rocky cove on Maps with turquoise water and zero people, zero flags, zero lifeguard tower. It looks dreamy. I keep thinking about rips and how long a shout would take to reach help. Do travelers actually say no to the unmarked swim, or is a careful look from the rocks enough before you jump in?

Unmarked coves can be calm on the surface and still have a pull along the rocks. No tower means no quick help. If you cannot see other swimmers and you do not know the exit points, treat it as a look-from-the-rocks day and swim where flags or a busy beach give you company. A photo from the cliff is still a Sri Lanka photo. I will not invent a lifeguard fee for a wild cove. Partner FOMO is real; drowning risk is more real. Insist on a flagged or peopled stretch, then walk the pretty cove with dry clothes.

We swam at the busy flagged bay and walked the pretty cove dry. Partner complained ten minutes, then agreed.
