Do not want passports in a wet pocket at 6:53. Leave them in the safe and carry a paper copy, or is that a problem if someone asks.

Leave the passports in the safe and carry a colour copy plus the hotel card; checks on foot rarely need the original at the curb.

We left originals in the safe last night and showed a copy once. Nobody asked us to walk back for the real one.

If you are nervous, one adult can carry one passport in a dry inner zip. Do not take the whole family's booklets.
