Are we allowed to take photos of the workers in the fields and should we tip them.

You are absolutely allowed to take photographs of the women working in the tea fields, and it is highly encouraged during the tours. However, it is vital to be respectful. Always smile, make eye contact, and politely ask for permission before taking close up portraits.

The best estates for authentic photography are the actively working fields around Pedro Estate in Nuwara Eliya or the massive Dambatenne estate near Lipton Seat, especially early in the morning when the mist is clearing.

Their work is incredibly physically demanding. If you take their photo, it is a very kind and highly expected gesture to offer a small tip, roughly 100 to 200 Rupees, directly to the worker.
