Saw that the police clearance system is restored. We are short-trip visitors for a couple of weeks. Is that paperwork anything we need, or is it really only for long-stay and special cases.

Honestly it is usually long-stay and special paperwork, not ordinary holiday visitors on a short trip. Do not invent a clearance errand you were never asked for.

If your visa agent or employer specifically requested it, follow that. Otherwise enjoy the holiday.

Embassy or agent instructions beat social media panic. Short tourist stays almost never start at that counter.
