Mid-afternoon near the First Randoli route — can we still buy a cheap fold-up stool, or is it tip-on-hire chairs only now. Prefer buy so we are not negotiating tips in the dark.

A few stalls still sell basic fold-ups mid-afternoon if you hunt one street back from the densest curb. Hire chairs dominate the front line and expect a tip culture — buy early if that bothers you.

Side streets off the main gallery often have quieter sellers. You will stand farther back but keep the stool without a hire argument.

If you buy, test the legs on uneven pavement before you commit. Cheap folds fail halfway through the drums.
