Power cut killed my workation video call mid-sentence — hotel UPS or cafe hop next time?
Ahangama guesthouse, client call, lights died mid-sentence and the router went with them. This is not about diesel smell under the window or general wifi reviews — it is specifically surviving scheduled work calls when the grid drops. Partner says get a room with an inverter. I am thinking of booking cafe mornings instead. What actually works for people taking calls from the south coast?

Ask before you book whether the router sits on an inverter or UPS, and test a short call at the same hour you will need. Many rooms keep lights on a backup while the wifi dies — that is useless for work. A cafe with a generator and a known morning rhythm is a solid plan B. I will not invent a guaranteed uptime SLA for guesthouses. Power bank for the laptop helps only if the network stays up. Confirm backup power for the router, not just the bulb.
