I want to minimize plastic use. Any practical tips that actually work here?

Bring a reusable water bottle and use refill stations or buy large 5L bottles to refill smaller ones. Carry a reusable bag and utensils. Many guesthouses and cafes will fill bottles if asked. Say no to plastic bags and straws consistently. Some places now have better waste systems than others — supporting those that do helps. It's not perfect everywhere, but small consistent choices add up. Some travelers bring a small water filter or purification system for extra flexibility. Asking 'no plastic please' politely often works.

The biggest impact often comes from refusing single-use items politely but firmly every time. Many places are happy to accommodate if you ask.
