Pre-bought eSIM QR will not activate at CMB and the Dialog kiosk queue is out the door — keep retrying or join the line?

Bought an eSIM online for arrival. QR errors, airplane mode tricks, nothing. Phone is unlocked. The official-looking kiosk queue from baggage claim looks thirty deep. Need maps and WhatsApp for the driver. Is airport Wi‑Fi plus patience enough to force the eSIM, or do first-timers just swallow the queue for a physical SIM and move on?

If the QR fails after a few clean tries on airport Wi‑Fi, join the kiosk line for a properly registered physical SIM rather than blocking the Arrivals hall. Staff can check passport registration; that process is normal. Pre-bought eSIMs sometimes need a specific APN, a carrier app, or simply fail on certain phones — troubleshooting is easier later at the hotel. Your driver can be reached on free Wi‑Fi or a borrowed call. Coverage debates in the hills are a separate issue; right now you need a working number. Keep the failed eSIM receipt for the seller; do not invent which brand is perfect.

Mine activated on the third Wi‑Fi try. Friend next to me failed completely and bought physical. Both of us texted drivers within an hour.

Joined the line. Physical SIM in twenty-five minutes. Will argue with the eSIM seller by email later.

Same panic before my north bus booking. Working local number beat pride about the QR.

Drivers would rather you delay five minutes than share a dead number. Queue is annoying and correct.
