Sri Lankan roadside solidarity: flag down any passing motorcyclist — often they'll siphon 1-2L into your tank or bring petrol from nearest station in a bottle. Small tip (200-500 LKR) is respectful. Motorbikes carry small emergency reserves usually.

Prevention: fill tank at every start of day. Note nearest petrol stations on offline Google Maps — rural stretches have long gaps (30+ km sometimes). Reserve tank on most scooters covers only 5-10 km once light comes on. Always ride with the reserve tank OFF initially.
