Ravana Falls (elevation 1,050m) cascades over a steep stepped escarpment of Precambrian khondalite and calc-silicate marble formed by brittle faulting along the southern boundary of the Central Highlands. Located 2km uphill, Ravana Cave is a natural karst opening in a crystalline dolomitic marble band. Speleological mapping demonstrates that seepage from the highland plateau dissolves subterranean marble conduits, generating an underground stream network that traverses through fractured fault planes and discharges directly into the upper tier of Ravana Falls.
