Rice and curry portions - ordering for two, one plate or two?

Depends on the place. Kade (small local eateries): one rice and curry portion = 500-800g of rice + 4-6 curries + sambols. Two people can EASILY share one order. Restaurants: portions smaller, order per person. Buffet-style 'rice and curry' at hotels: one price, unlimited. When in doubt at a kade, order one and add a second if hungry. Sri Lankans routinely share. And a big lassi or fresh juice on the side.

^ this. Also for the tourist zones vs actual local kade - you'll get bigger portions at local kade (less accustomed to accommodating small foreign appetites). Share one, thank the auntie, offer a smile. Everyone happy.
