Road accident ahead has blocked the highway — stay on the bus for hours or start walking with bags?
Our CTB is stuck behind a crash on the highway. Traffic is not moving, locals are getting off, and we have two backpacks. Partner wants to walk to the next junction and grab a tuk. I worry about leaving the bus with tickets and luggage on an open road. Stay put or walk? Practical traveler advice only — no invented tow fees.

Default is stay with the bus unless police or the crew clearly say it is safe to leave and how to rejoin. Walking the carriageway with big packs is risky and you can lose your seat and any through-ticket continuity. If the crew organizes a shoulder walk to a junction for a replacement vehicle, keep bags on you and stick together. I will not invent a roadside hire price as gospel. Patience on the coach is usually safer than improvising on a blocked A-road.
Only walked when police pointed a shoulder path. Bags stayed on our backs.
If you step off even briefly, take the backpack. Empty seats get raided by chaos.
