Palavi salt pans (near Puttalam) is Sri Lanka's biggest salt production area — vast geometric evaporation ponds, salt harvest by manual labor. Guided visits at dawn or late afternoon (avoid midday sun brutal). 2-3 hours, includes visit to salt packing facilities.
