Saturday washed out in Colombo - museum, mall, or do we just sit in the hotel and watch the Test on TV
Not going to the SSC (already know the free-gate story). Need an indoor day that is not a casino. National Museum vs Independence vs One Galle Face. We have a 7-year-old and a grandmother.

National Museum (Colombo 7) is the actual museum - AC, objects, a garden if it breaks. Independence Memorial Hall / museum is a short hop. Gangaramaya if they will cover up. Then a mall (One Galle Face, Colombo City Centre, Racecourse) for food and toilets. Grandmother will like the Dutch Hospital / arcade more than Pettah.
Museum 90 minutes, then ice cream at a mall. Kid rated the mall. That is fine.
Scam Watch: colombo
Driver claims the meter is broken and quotes an inflated flat rate. Common on arrival at airport or railway stations when tourists are tired and disoriented.
Drivers wearing official-looking uniforms claim to be "government-approved" and charge 3-5x normal rates. They may have fake badges or ID cards.
Women with babies approach asking you to buy milk powder at a nearby shop (not cash). The shop is run by accomplices and charges 5-10x normal price.
