The beautiful ancient stone bridges you are looking for are known as the Gal Palama. They are located slightly away from the massive central stupas, spanning the Malwathu Oya river.
Because they are situated on the quieter outer ring of the archaeological park, they are rarely crowded. Renting a bicycle is the absolute best way to reach them peacefully and get a stunning, uninterrupted photograph.
These twin bridges are an incredible feat of ancient engineering, built using massive, perfectly cut granite slabs laid across stone pillars. They were used by monks and royalty centuries ago.
