Things you may not be considering: (1) Left-side driving (may not be your side). (2) Chaos - buses that expect you to move, tuk-tuks changing lanes without signaling, pedestrians on roads, dogs. (3) Police checkpoints - foreign drivers get pulled over routinely, need AAC permit, sometimes bribes expected. (4) Parking is chaos at attractions. (5) After a long day driving you're exhausted, can't enjoy dinner or the sunset. Chauffeur ($60-90/day) removes ALL of this. Also has local knowledge (best food stops, hidden viewpoints). Self-driving saves maybe $500 on a 2-week trip. Chauffeur = $500 for sanity. Not a hard choice for me.

^ this. Also: rental car insurance is a mess. Coverage exceptions everywhere. Chauffeur = his boss's problem if anything goes wrong. Cleaner situation entirely.
