Room will be stuffy if we leave AC off for hours. Set the room AC before we leave for the long curb stand, or will that waste power the hotel minds. Not balcony latch checks, and not minibar restock.

Set a moderate AC before you leave so the room is bearable on return — ask the desk if they prefer a set temperature for long absences.
