Shoes are squelching from the damp curb. We still have to walk back through occupied streets. Keep them on, or go socks on the outer pavement.

Keep them on until the lobby. Socks on a wet outer pavement is how you pick up glass. Squelch is ugly, not dangerous.

If an elder shoe is actually coming off, hold the heel and keep walking. Do not hop-sock past tape.

We kept them on and peeled in the bathroom. Going socks on the loop would have been worse.
